This is mainly my rice pot. I cook for one and am on a diet, so I wanted a small pot with a glass cover for various cooking needs – but particularly for making basmati rice. This is just so perfect. I use the infusion method, so I am putting in 1/4 cup of rice and 1/2 cup of water (as well as flavors, like dried porcini, star anise, etc). This is plenty small enough to handle this tiny amount (although it could certainly handle 4 or 5 times as much).
Sometimes when the rice/water bubbles are building a thin stream can escape the top, but I usually catch it (yahoo glass top!), pop the top for literally a second, and not worry again for another 30-60 seconds. This is almost always when I only have rice, salt and water; with an infuser like the dried porcini, it hardly every bubbles up to the top.
Is thick enough base that heat distributes well.

Its made In USA that got the five stars…the handles are short and easier to use, but do get hot so use potholders. The omelets slip right off the pan. The customer service is great. I will buy this brand as long as they keep making it in USA and a quality product. Also got a great deal. The first one was a bit wobbly on my glass top stove but amazon made it right, as they always do! I just recently went out and bought the entire commercial set, made in USA, but this is my favorite every day pan. I use it for everything, deep enough for stir fry’s and shallow enough for omelets and grilled cheese. The food doesn’t stick if your pot is flat as it should be. Easy to clean and nice to look at as well.
